ยง 4.163 Executive Order No. 163: Directing that the Adjutant General order into active service the organized militia to assist civil agencies and authorities in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland Counties, the City of New York and their contiguous areas in disaster recovery efforts

NOW, THEREFORE, I MARIO M. CUOMO, Governor of the State of New York, under the Military Law of the State, do hereby direct by executive order that the Adjutant General order into the active service of the State, for such period, to such extent, and in such manner as he may deem necessary, all or any part of the organized militia to assist civil agencies and authorities in the disaster recovery efforts necessitated by a combination of severe rain and high winds which has caused coastal and inland flooding, the interruption of essential public services and utilities, severe coastal erosion, the destruction of flood prevention structures, and the disruption of vital public transportation systems in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland Counties, the City of New York and their contiguous areas beginning on December 10, 1992.

1. Brigadier General Michael S. Hall, the Adjutant General, is hereby appointed commander of all personnel ordered into the active service of the State.

2. Units and members of the organized militia who shall perform State active duty by order of the Adjutant General will immediately assemble at their local armories when so ordered, and will remain assembled pending further orders as to their disposition by the Adjutant General.

3. All enlistments, re-enlistments or voluntary extensions of enlistments which expire after December 10, 1992, or during the period for which the members are currently ordered into the active service of State are hereby extended for the duration of such duty in the active service of the State.
